LAUNE SALMON AND TROUT ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION WATERS AND BEAT 3

Angling Report 30th June (Email to Laune Angling Report)

Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.

As of Monday 30th June water fallen well back to 1 foot on the gauge at Johnston’s, river in need of some good rain.

News of fish for the week was as scarce as hen’s teeth.  Our four French visiting anglers mentioned last week who were fishing Laune Anglers waters went away fishless.  Any wonder they will have a fishing destination other than Kerry in their holiday plans for 2015??

Granted the Laune is low but there is no scarcity of wild salmon in our fish shops so why are our members and visiting anglers finding it so hard to even meet a fish?

Permits for Laune Anglers waters right now cost only €25 per day.

Beat 3:           Beat 3 needs two feet of water for any good salmon fishing.  On the plus side the trout fishing conditions are still good especially in the evenings.

Prospects: Not good.  With six months of the anglers season on the Laune already gone and only three to go, most of our members have yet to meet a fish.  Things need to take a quick turn for the better.  With low water and no rain forecast it’s going to be another while before we will have any good news to report.

Anglers please note: A ‘One Day’ salmon permit for Beat 3 only costs €25

ANGLING REPORT 7TH JULY (EMAIL TO LAUNE ANGLING REPORT)

Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.

As of Monday 7th July water fallen well back to 6inches on the gauge at Johnston’s, river in need of some good rain.

News of fish almost non-existent.  Put it down to the low river conditions and hot water but the fish are not just there.  There were a few sea trout caught for the week and a few grilse but nothing to write home about.

As we move well into the third last month of a ‘nine month’ angling season anglers on the Laune are not happy with their lot.  2014 is looking like the third bad angling season in a row.

Permits for Laune Anglers waters right now cost only €25 per day.

Beat 3:           Beat 3 needs three feet of water to get it going again.  On the plus side the trout fishing conditions are still good especially in the evenings.

Prospects: Not good.

Anglers please note: A ‘One Day’ salmon permit for Beat 3 only costs €25
