Galway Buccaneers SAC reports:
Congratulations to Conor Graham on Winning leg 3 of our boat master angler series sponsored by Galway Bay Fishing. It’s Conor’s second win on the bounce and it was a hard won victory, with Sean Gerrity running close behind in 2nd place and Conor Mountaine who took 3rd spot and Steve Turner who finished 4th were in the mix right up until lines up.
We had another fine summers day with what little wind there was being countered by the tide making for ideal conditions for a slow drift. Mackerel were being caught in abundance for the first time this year and we were once again treated to a magical display from a pod of Minke Whales on our way out to the fishing grounds.
Fishing was good from the start with a variety of species being boated including a specimen Ballan Wrasse for John Peel a cracking Coalfish for Denis Healy, Conor Mountaine had a nice Cod, David Spokes had some lovely Pollack as did Marcin Tomaszek while Steve Turner caught a decent sized Cod a fish that’s proved elusive for him on Irish Shores.
We finished with 14 Species including: Cuckoo Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Cod, Ling, Coalfish, Pollack, Pouting, Poor Cod, Whiting, Dogfish, Haddock, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel and Launce
Thanks as always to our skipper Kevin MacGabhann for a great days fishing and for looking after us with refreshment and ensuring everyone was taken care of. Full result to follow
