Sean Carty of Carty’s Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran, Co. Donegal updates us on the fishing in the north of the country:
The Duff has fished fairly steadily over the last 2 weeks with plenty of overnight rainfalls leading to small floods that have allowed fish to move . There has been fish caught most days on some part of the river and the most successful method by far has been the prawn followed by the spinner and then the fly .
The most popular colour prawn has definitely been purple or pink and there was also quite a few fish caught on green or brown ones especially upstream . On the flys anything small that’s red , yellow or black has done the business . In particular the size 14 red francis shrimp comes highly recommended . The weather forecast for the week ahead is for mostly dry conditions so its not looking too promising for the Salmon angler.
