Sean Carty of Carty’s Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran, Co. Donegal updates us on the fishing in the north of the country:
On the shore the fishing has remained good with anglers having some great sessions on Tullan strand, Streedagh and Mermaids cove . All these locations have had reports of plenty of Flounder ,Sea trout , a few Turbot and plenty of Dog fish at night . Of the rocks around the Bundoran area there has been plenty of good ,up to specimen size Wrasse being caught with some anglers reporting to have caught up to 30 fish per session . There has also been some good pollock caught from Rougey and the Quarry flag up to about 7lb and the most notable report this week has to be a 2lb Bass caught from beside the fairy bridges .
On the boats this last 2 weeks fishing has been good with all the local charter vessels reporting plenty of action with good sized Pollock , ling , Cod , Coalies etc . The coming weeks should be good with the start of our shark season and hopefully a continuation of last years Blue finn Tuna action .
Next Sunday 27th July Mullaghmore Sea angling club will host their annual open boat competition .3 boats will leave the harbour at 9.30 sharp . For further information contact Boris Seigel on 087 6962052 .
