Galway Buccaneers SAC reports:
Congratulations to Fergus Collins on winning leg 5 of our shore master angler series. It was Fergus Collins’ first win of the series, improving on his 3rd place last time out. Weather wise it was a clear dry evening with only a gentle breeze, perfect conditions for the target species of Thornback Ray, Bullhuss and Dogfish. Fish were coming in from the start with Rob King landing a fine Bullhuss early on the largest fish on the day. Fergus Collins and Alan Kelly were next into fish followed soon after by Norbert Zimmerer, Conor Mountaine on Peg 1 had a slow start.
As the evening progressed the fishing continued to get better Fergus Collins on the end peg was landing double shots while Norbert Zimmerer and Alan Kelly were keeping within touching distance. Things slowed down for Rob King after his good start while Conor Mountaine started picking up fish and chasing down the front runners. It was too little too late for Conor Mountaine while he managed to secure 2nd place with a Bullhuss on the last cast, putting him clear of Alan Kelly in 3rd, he could not reign in long time leader Fergus Collins who was picking up fish throughout and finished up 4 fish and 110 points better off in 1st place.
