Sean Carty of Carty’s Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran, Co. Donegal updates us:
The main event in the angling world in Donegal bay this week was the master angler competition which was hosted this year by Mullaghmore sea angling club on Saturday and Sunday . The weather and sea conditions were beautiful for the event with anglers comparing it to fishing in the Mediterranean . 54 of the best anglers in the country battled it out for the ultimate prize to captain the Irish international team in the world championships 2015 .
In the end there could only be one winner and the man that stepped up to the mark was Tony Santry from Cork . The top 20 anglers from the event will now go on to battle it out in a fish off to make up the rest of the Irish team . The overall fishing for the event was good considering the bright sunshine with a total of 3071 fish caught including 11 different species . A big well done to all the anglers , the stewards that gave up their free time , the Beach hotel for their hospitality ,the skippers , Paddy Donnelly for sponsoring the packed lunches for the skippers and stewards , members of the Connaght council Josie Barrett and Shane Gillvary for helping out with the scores and especially Boris Siegel for organising and coordinating the event and making sure that everything ran smoothly .
Compliments of:
