North East angling guide Eamonn Conway reports that due to the recent rain the night fishing was spoiled for sea trout on the Castletown River so he headed to the Monaghan Blackwater where the brown trout fishing was quite good after recent spate. The river was dropping lovely and the trout were in good taking spirit. They were taking plenty of nymphs and despite the fact that the water was slightly coloured. They willingly took the dry fly too and there were some sedges present. According to Eamonn the Monaghan Blackwater is a pleasant wee river to fish.
