In the last number of weeks, we have been getting reports from anglers that with the cold weather and winter now upon us that the Rainbow trout fishing has really taken off. Personally I have seen and had reports of good fishing in several fisheries near to Dublin at Rathcon, Annamoe and Courtlough to name a few. In the colder weather fish are generally hugging the bottom and only occasionally coming to the surface these days. Sinking, Intermediate and sink tip fly lines together with a team of flies is all that is needed. Variations in retrieves pays handsome dividends. There are a huge number of fisheries all open throughout the winter and offer good sport on the fly.
