Josie Mahon reports that the 10th Annamoe Media Fly Fishing Competition was held at Annamoe Fly fishery on 4th April. Good weather ensured a great turnout at this event with over 15 competitors from the angling and general media.  The competition was run over the day and was followed by a lovely hot meal in the fishing lodge at Annamoe.
During the competition 36 hard fighting top quality rainbow trout were landed and measured.  Diarmuid Fleming landed the largest fish of 46 cms in length which gave him the longest fish of the day and the overall winner. Remy Valean landed four fabulous trout with total length of 323cms giving him 2nd place. John Buckley landed eight rainbows with total length of 293cms and 3rd place.
Sponsors of the competition included Emerger Tackle, Southside Angling, Wicklow Charter Boats and Annamoe Trout Fisheries.
Diarmuid Fleming who won the Annamoe media fly fishing competition caught the largest fish of 46cm and had an overall catch of 4 fish.  Diarmuid is a freelance journalist who does a lot of work for the BBC (World Service and Northern Ireland).
