IFI Fisheries Awareness Week :
Inland Fisheries Ireland will hold another angling fun day for all the family at the Milford Club grounds on Lough Fern on Saturday, May 17th.
The aim of the event is to introduce, promote and encourage people to take up the sport of fishing. Fisheries Officers will have locally sourced kick samples and the macroinvertebrates can be studied in detail under field microscopes. A selection of trout and salmon can be viewed in a mobile aquarium and Fisheries Officers will give talks on the life cycle of the trout and salmon and the threats they face. Fisheries Officers will also be discussing invasive species and the bio security measures that clubs should be putting in place to prevent their spread. Casting tuition will be available and a local flytier will be giving a demonstration on how to tie salmon and trout flies.
Experienced anglers will also be on hand to take budding anglers, young and old out on the lough for the chance of catching a fish or two.
