The Milford & District Fly Angling Club will hold the “Lough Fern Classic” Catch & Release Trout Angling competitiion on Saturday May 31st & Sunday June 1st.
This is one of the Clubs’ biggest events and another large entry is expected.
Anglers can choose to fish the Saturday or Sunday or both with only the best day score to count.
Another fantastic prize fund of over €2000 is up for grabs again.
Entry forms are available from me here at the Lough Swilly Angling Centre or can be dowlloaded from the club website.
This competition is limited to 30 boats each day and the deadline for entries is Wednesday the 28th of May.

The Milford Club is now taking applications for membership for the 2014 season. Current club memberships are now also due for renewal.
Appication forms are available from the IRD offfice in Milford or here at the Lough Swilly Angling Centre.

IFI Fisheries Awareness Week :
Inland Fisheries Ireland will hold another angling fun day for all the family at the Milford Club grounds on Lough Fern on Saturday, May 17th.
The aim of the event is to introduce, promote and encourage people to take up the sport of fishing. Fisheries Officers will have locally sourced kick samples and the macroinvertebrates can be studied in detail under field microscopes. A selection of trout and salmon can be viewed in a mobile aquarium and Fisheries Officers will give talks on the life cycle of the trout and salmon and the threats they face. Fisheries Officers will also be discussing invasive species and the bio security measures that clubs should be putting in place to prevent their spread. Casting tuition will be available and a local flytier will be giving a demonstration on how to tie salmon and trout flies.
Experienced anglers will also be on hand to take budding anglers,young and old out on the lough for the chance of catching a fish or two.
The Milford Club will also be providing a free Bar-B-Que for everyone, so why not bring all the family along to enjoy a great free event !
• Booking is not essential as event is open to the general public.
• Wellington boots and appropriate outdoor clothing is advisable.
• If you own a serviced life jacket or buoyancy aid please bring it with you.
• Bring any fishing equipment you may have.
