Paul Whelan of Fort William Estate reports:
30/09/2014 The fishing is almost at an end and what a season to say the least!
“Mother Nature” surely played her part on conservation as fishing was so difficult.
Anglers went out in force battling bright skies and high temperatures which was not good for salmon fishing.  Sea trout fishing was excellent and great catches reported as we didn’t see trout fishing like it in years.
A Big thank you to everyone who supported me and Fort William this season and look forward to 2015 as big changes will happen so watch this space.
Memorable catches:
Heaviest fish to David O Riordan of 17lbs, John Joe Dolley 12Lbs who is only 12years old, Bernard Perry with his 7lb fish, John Brock with his 11lb fish, Steve Earl with his 8lb, George Handley 9lbs fish.
The guides done a great job this season and great to have Cris Cody back in action as one of the team.
C&R until 12th October and with some rain forecasted it might not be too late yet!
Tight lines!!

Go fishing…

Flowing through Cork and Waterford, in the south east of Ireland, the river Blackwater is most famous for it’s salmon fishing. Fort William Fishery has 5 beats on the river, which include stretches particularly suited to flyfishing. Our beats offer a wide variety of water, suitable for both beginners and the more experienced fishermen. In summer we have also good numbers of sea trout. On the estate there is  two self-catering cottages and tackle/freezer room. Whether you like fishing for salmon or fly fishing for sea trout, Fort William will meet all your game angling requirements and much more.
