Discovering, fun and adventure…Brilliant !. Lough Fern Fisheries Awareness Event last Saturday was a super success. Children explored all things angling. IFI staff were onhand to help and a great day was had. Well done to all who took part.

Lough Currane Salmon Hatchery

Children got to see first hand some of the conservation work being undertaken by local community to preserve Lough Currane’s salmon population.

Demonstrations and adventure at Waterville

Saturday’s event took place in Waterville Co Kerry, Inland Fisheries Ireland ran the event with Seasynergy and Waterville angling trust. The day was divided into 5 separate activities, a beach cleanup began the day and 5 bags of rubbish were collected by the participants, followed by a teaching lesson on marine biodiversity of the local beach by Lucy Hunt marine biologist, followed by a seine sampling session by Micheal Hennessy and Tim Moore on Ballinskelligs beach and finished off with a visit to the local Salmon hatchery hosted by Rod Robinson. A total of approximately 40 people joined us on the day.
