Ken Whelan and Jason O’Riordan are running a Match the Hatch Stillwater Course at Courtlough Fishery just off the Motorway near Dublin on November 29th.  This is an excellent fishery with great insect life and suitable facilities for a course.

 Phase 1: (Classroom) Slides and images as an introduction to small still water entomology. Demonstration of live food items present in the lake.

 Phase 2: (Classroom) Going through the fly boxes and tying in the imitations with the natural animals. Emphasis will be placed on how the insects (aquatic and terrestrial) , crustaceans / snails move and how the flies move in the water and at what depth

Ken runs his own fisheries consultancy. He has been a keen angler since a very young age and has written extensively on angling topics. He has fished in many remote locations throughout the world and he is a qualified angling instructor (AAPGAI and STANIC) and angling guide. Ken has also produced, scripted and presented many films and videos on various aspects of Irish fisheries and angling. He is a regular radio contributor to Mooney Goes Wild on RTE.
