Mark Houlihan, the well known pike and bass guide from Cork, and friend Steve Brannagh from Belfast visited Foxford, Co. Mayo to meet up with Pike and Salmon Guide Kenny Sloan, for two days fly fishing for some hard fighting, Mayo Pike.

A beauty on the fly for Mark

Trying different depths of water with an array of Mark’s fly creations, several good pike were caught though some decided to somersault off the hook.

Steve did well on the fly too

Weather conditions were wet and very windy the second day. Nevertheless 4 pike were caught and many more lost. Mark and Steve have planned for another trip when weather conditions improve to try for a few more Mayo Pike.

Conditions were not so pleasant on day 2

Go fishing with Kenny…

Kenny Sloan has become synonymous with big pike in the Foxford area. Kenny can guide you on the big wild waters around him Conn and Cullen but he also has a lot of smaller waters at his disposal and even if the wind blows he always has some where to fish making your break as productive as possible.
