The NCFFI International Youth Team Manager, Jack Tisdall has announced the teams who will represent Ireland at the FIPS-ed World Youth Angling Championships in 2016. The anglers who will head to Portugal to fish the River Sorraia at Coruche are as follows;

The youths were selected from a process of four qualifiers throughout the year on a variety of venues which included coaching by senior international team members were chosen according to their current angling ability, the results from the qualifiers and other national events and through the individual anglers’ demonstration of their commitment to the sport.
Jack Tisdall says:- “I am delighted to present our youth squad for 2016 which this year includes a number of new faces representing the high level of development of our junior coarse anglers in Ireland. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the qualifying process and the parental support and encourage those who were unsuccessful this time to stick with the process for the future. Attendance at qualifiers and national events during the year helps to improve the angling abilities of all those taking part.”
The two teams who will travel together to Portugal in July will receive a subsidy of €3,500 towards travel costs from the NCFFI, tackle & equipment from team sponsors Tubertini UK LTD and groundbait from Van Den Eynde. Additional sponsors will be sought to keep costs to a minimum.
