Angling Guide and guesthouse owner Kevin Lyons reports on pike  fishing for his clients in the past week on waters near his base at Melview Lodge in Co. Longford.

Rob, Dermot, Aidan and Kieran were up at Melview Lodge for a couple of days Pike fishing with Kevin Lyons at Melview Lodge in Longford. Kevin said the were able to catch Pike to around 14lb but the big one’s have still not come onto feed yet, with the water temperatures still being very cold up here I think this may be one of the key factors. Water levels have dropped so if there is a slight improvement in the water temperature I’m sure the bigger ladies will come out to play, over the next week I hope to get on a few spots myself so we have to see what the next week has install.

Please note any species of fish being caught this time of year should carefully given time to revive by placing into the water and holding before being fully released.
