Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports on the salmon and sea trout fishing in the past week on the Lough Currane system:

04/02/15 There were at least 8 boats out with little to no wind and what wind was there was NNE with bright sunshine. The only bit of action was in the Kelt department with 2 Kelts caught on the troll by local Gillie Sion Brain of  www.kbfishingireland.com Now to the reminiscing  photography department, those were the days in Waterville.

05/02/15 Freezing cold conditions are the order of the day, in other words my Noble Anglers were frozen assets as my Noble Salmon gave the anglers a Winston Churchill. Going back to the weather, wind N light and variable, with bright sunshine all day.

Currane - Currane Lake and Sunset 201506/02/15 All quiet on the SW front in all departments including the weather with a light East wind with bright sunshine all day.

07/02/15  The only bit of action was in the boat of Mr. Noel Clancy of Dublin and Waterville, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sion Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com caught 1 Kelt this morning when there was a gentle breeze going up the Lake, but once that departed and Lough Currane went flat calm that was their ration and for the rest of the angling community, the least said the soonest mended. Wind E light to calm with bright sunshine all day.

08/02/15 It was a hard frosty morning as my Noble Anglers set out from their fishing stations and as they left for their days manipulation, they lacked the warmth of the central heating and by the end of the day they were also lacking the noise of the Hardy Reel singing and the excitement of my Noble Gentlemen the Salmon. On the weather front it was calm and bright.

09/02/15 Lough Currane again was on the quiet side in all departments, the only bit of action was the fires on the Kerry Mountains, as you can see by the photos. Staying with the Photos, here are some nice photos of Lough Currane taken by Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald of Caherdaniel.

11/02/15 Just one or two boats manipulating and sadly no reports of any rod benders and if there were, my Noble Anglers failed to let their fingers do the talking .Wind SE light with reasonable cloud cover at times.

That is your ration from the opening days on Lough Currane, from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery, no spin no fly’s just facts.
