Eileen Carroll in IFI’s Macroom office has the news from the Laune system…

There are no reports of salmon of the Killarney Lakes, Lough Lein, the Killarney Flesk or Beats 1 and 2 on the River Laune.

Billy Downes of the Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association reports that as of Monday 20th July the water level is at 1.36m at the Laune Bridge or just over 2 feet at Johnston’s. Beautiful water for all methods and will be clearing to even better condition today and for the rest of the week.

Conditions beautiful but despite a good angling effort over the weekend news of fish is extremely scarce once again.

At Johnston’s last evening all I saw landed among six anglers was one small grilse which had been through the wars in the estuary and was marked on both flanks.

Beat 3: The Beat 3 water level is lovely just now.

Permits for Laune Anglers waters from now to the end of July only €25 per day.
