An update from Ian Powell of the Blackwater Lodge :
On Sunday – June 21 – we recorded the Second Best Day of the Season. Eight fish (five salmon 7-10lb. plus 3 grilse) were caught for just 5 rod days. One 3 rod party landed 5 on our top beat. A good number of fish – both salmon & very fresh grilse – were showing on both the upper & lower beats. We now have 41 fish for the month to date, & 73 for the season so far. For the first week of June (to Sunday 7th.) we caught 19 fish to 12½lb for 55 rod days. For the second week, we caught 8 fish to 14lb for just 23 rod days. For this third week, we caught 14 fish to 10¾lb for 33 rod days.

Prospects
Looking very good for the coming week as fish are now moving in in much better numbers.

Availability
There is no problem for fishing & accommodation availability in the coming weeks at the moment. Now is also the time to think about booking your fishing break for the prime times in the coming season before it’s too late. With the €uro being so weak, exchange rates against the £ sterling, US $ Dollar & other currencies, make a trip to Ireland extremely good value for money at the moment!
