Lindsey Clarke reports from Owenea Fishery – Monday 15th  to Sunday 21st June 2015.

The Owenea suffered from low water levels all week. The river was ‘down to the bones’ all week and only read 0.06m. There was a slight rise on Saturday (0.11m) and Sunday (0.10m) but this only meant the river rose from dead low to very low! The gauge average for the week was understandably very low reading 0.07 metres. Only 2 visiting rods fished for the week. I have only heard of 2 salmon caught for the week, both on Sunday. Local rod Alan Mooney recorded a 5lb grilse caught by on a fly from beat 9 and Anthony Carr reported a 4lb grilse caught and released on a fly from beat 4.
