The salmon fishing season on the River Boyne closed with low water conditions and some lovely weather, our indian summer no doubt. There were a few fresh fish around and some nice sized sea trout were reported on the lower stretches of the river. Having guided a number of overseas visitors to their first salmon during the season, angling guide Peter Cunningham took a few days to fish and spend some quality time salmon fishing with his son Jake. No doubt during this time, Peter was passing on some more of his skills and expertise to the next generation of salmon anglers in the Cunningham family. Over the few days the lads contacted a few fish and Jake who is an excellent angler in his own right landed a nice fish that had been in the river quite a while. After a quick photo, the fish was assisted to recuperate before being released back to the river.
