Tralee Bay SAC’s first competition of the spring was fished on Sunday 22 March and the optimism was high, the sun was shining and the chill had gone out of the air…

21 anglers including 6 juniors arrived on Littor Strand and the competition started at 12 noon.  Early on in the competition James Allman caught a nice Thornback Ray and got everyone’s hopes up for a few more.

As the minutes passed by it became apparent that this was not going to be, in fact there seemed to be a shortage of fish altogether. However we battled on ever hopeful of a change when the tide turned, but alas still no fish.

The only junior angler to catch on the day…

One of our juniors Natasha Griffin pulled out a double with two nice flounder, and was the only junior to catch any fish through out the comp.

Over all only 20 fish were caught and all flounder except the thornback ray and a tiny undersize Mullet caught by Chris O’ Sullivan.
