Tralee Bay SAC report on their last competition…

Weed plagued most of our local venues in the days running up to our night competition on the 8th November, including Ballyheige which was our original location. On the morning of the competition we settled on Barrow beach, and although the wind would be blowing in our faces, it was weed free.

With a slight delay in the start time we were hopeful for a few fish. The surf was rolling and we were looking forward to what the evening would bring.

The first few hours were slow with Jo Boland and Nikki Foley taking the lead with several good sized flounder. Paddy McMahon was leading for the juniors, with Eoin Foley cashing his tail.

Towards the end of the competition things changed when Chris O Sullivan and Jimmy O Sullivan both caught a good size Painted Ray. Chris’s topped the scale at 10 lb 8 oz. These prize fish put them both  in the lead.

The results are as follows

  • 1st place: Chris O Sullivan  282 points
  • 2nd place: Jimmy O Sullivan 205 points
  • 3rd Place : Joe Bolland 191 points
Juniors
  • 1st place: Eoin Foley 138 points
  • 2nd place: Paddy McMahon 99 points

Biggest Flat: Nikki Foley/Jimmy O Sullivan 31 cm Flounder
