Even with Abigail on her way, anglers were keen to put their flies to the test in the challenging waters at Cashel. Doing just that were Bernard Gallagher, Colm McBrearty and Conor Gallagher (Derry). Bernard got his two fish on a pink lure while Colm banked his first ever fish on the fly which took and orange cat. Conor released three trout back into the lake. Leo Kealy (Limavady) and Joey Mulligan (Draperstown) tempted trout up and down but with no luck. Eddie Manthorpe and Peter Clark did extremely well using muddlers and klinkhammers releasing nine and seven respectively. Trevor Harvey bagged two averaging 2lb which took wee buzzers. Derry’s Aidan Askin released a half a dozen which fell to nymphs while Dungiven’s Martin Bradley and John Hasson released eleven in total with John getting the majority on a small f-fly and small natural coloured lures.
