Michael Flanagan reports:
We teamed up with Royal Enfield Coarse Anglers last weekend who were fishing their Fur & Feather Christmas match competition. It was a lovely day out, and Turkey and Hams were up for grabs on the day. On the day Sean Ward won section A, with Colin Oliver taking 2nd place. In section B Aidan Gill was top rod with Pat Gill finishing 2nd. The junior section was won by Cillian Flynn of Kilcock, and the Cillian lad had a few lovely perch on the day. Cillian is certainly one of the up and coming top coarse anglers here in Leinster, and his dad J.J. actually worked here in Mullingar some years back in Gibson /Fletcher Accountants.

We did a bit of net working on the day and had a great chat with Royal Enfield Coarse Anglers President Brian O Donoghue, and also Julian Kendrick of Daingean Coarse Angling Club and Sean Ward of Prosperous Coarse Anglers. Sean tells us the Leinster Pairs Open is penciled in for January 10th and if any of our Mullingar coarse Anglers are interested in competing, Sean can be contacted on 086-8115526.The venue has not been selected, and will be announced prior to the competition date.

On January 24th Daingean Coarse Anglers in Co. Offaly will be in action, and Julian Kendrick is the contact for this match competition 089-4171723. I have a full list of the 2016 Leinster Coarse Fishing Federation Match competitions, and it would be great to see one of these clubs coming to Mullingar for a match competition.

GAME ON THE MENU. Quite a few of our Angling Club members are also members of local Gun Clubs, and this coming Friday December 18th Street Wildlife Club will host a Game Cooking Demonstration. The venue is Murphy’s Cross Roads Inn in Lisryan Co. Longford, and Chef Paul Bergin will be cooking a selection of game. This includes wild Pheasant, Duck, Partridge, and Venison. The cooking demonstration starts at 8pm, and admission is free. Its great chance to pick up a few cooking tips for the Christmas, and New Years feasts at home. More on this contact Seamus Denning @ 087-6213500 Street Wildlife Club Secretary.
