In the last week anglers on the Kiwi Girl fishing out out of Mullaghmore on Donegal Bay had some great blue shark fishing. Blues to around 220cm (total length) were caught on Tuesday. A few were knocking on specimens door (190cm fork length). Fish of 90 to 110lb were caught – fat sharks just missing the length but having the girth.
More sharks were caught over the weekend and it was blue skies, blue sharks on Sunday. But on Monday it was tougher going, though sharks still came to the boat. Weather got the better of them on Tuesday but they were back out again on Wednesday and despite the conditions managed to catch.
