It was a real pleasure to visit again my old stomping ground on St Patrick’s Day. I live close to the Tolka, the river where I first “cut my teeth” at an early age and which has stood me in good stead with this wonderful sport ever since. At the Finglas stretch, above Cardiffsbridge, I was impressed with the water clarity, the wildlife, the variety of fly life, the shallows and deep pools, as the river meandered past Tolka Valley Park. Very little had changed in half a century…
