Gary Robinson reports:

It is with great regret that Kayak Fisherman Ireland has to announce the postponement of the Irish Kayak Fishing Open 2016 until further notice. The event will very much go ahead in the future but presently there are issues regarding feasible insurance cover for the event. Not wanting to be so irresponsible as to host an open event without adequate insurance cover, the best course of action is to postpone the event until adequate cover can be sourced. Apologies to any anglers for any confusion and inconvenience caused. Please keep checking the site for updates because the event will go ahead on an alternative date with fantastic prizes on offer. Stay tuned!

Kayak angling in Ireland

Gary discovered the thrill, freedom and pure joy of kayak fishing almost by accident. After purchasing kayaks with the intention of paddling trips with his long-suffering partner, he started to assess the suitability of such a craft as a fishing platform. Some internet searches showed him that he was not alone in his thoughts. America and Australia already had blossoming populations of kayak anglers. Needing no more encouragement, he set about rigging his first sit on top kayak and transforming it into a fishing platform to gain access to some of the more inaccessible waters.
