Lindsey Clarke reports from RIVER DROWES – Monday 15th to Sunday 21st February 2016.

The Drowes remained fairly high over the week but is well down from the very high water conditions of previous weeks. On Monday the gauge at the Four Masters Bridge read 0.79m. The river continued to fall overall and by Sunday the gauge read 0.76m. There were a few rods in attendance at the fishery over the week. On Tuesday, Eddie Roulston (who caught the first salmon of the season) recorded an 8lb salmon caught on a Flying ‘C’ lure from Tinkers Hole. The forecast for the coming days is for colder drier weather and this should equate to a fall in water levels to a more desirable level especially for fly fishermen.
