John Fleming, skipper of the Brazen Hussy II, reports that they are enjoying a great start to the shark season over the last couple of weeks, with plenty of blues landed and finally their first porbeagle.

John says “We had an unbelievable day last Saturday.  Our first blue was landed by father and son Wayne and Martin Leonard, a nice blue of around 70lbs. The second shark came to Brendan Condron, again a strong blue also around 70lbs.  Next up was the money rod that was set deep and which gave a much steadier run and never stopped. Owen hopped on and was helped along by Martin as well and that’s when we knew it was a porbeagle. He fought strongly for about 45 minutes and was landed and released within 5 minutes this was our first porbeagle shark! A nice deep fish of around 80lbs. Another much larger one was also circling the boat so they are definitely around in numbers. Meanwhile Wayne and Dylan Condron were fighting yet another blue of about 80lbs. We had a fantastic day and a brilliant milestone achieved – the first porbeagle aboard the Brazen Hussy and enough blues to keep the whole crew happy. John has plenty of dates free at the moment for full boat or single seat charters – to book a day afloat give him a call on 087 7571320
