The Irish Federation of Sea Anglers, interprovincial shore championships were held over the weekend at venues in Wexford and Wicklow. The home province Leinster, came out a convincing winners on home ground over three 4 hours sessions. The province won gold in all categories; Mens, Ladies, under 21 and under 16. Notable catches were 7 of the men getting over 40 fish on the night session.
Ladies in action…
Alan Mulcahy of Munster had 44 fish and then followed this up with 10 fish in difficult weedy conditions on Sunday morning to take the Mens title. Not to be out done Pat Short of Leinster had 44 fish in the night session in the Ladies section, coupled with her 14 fish in session 1 was enough to take the ladies crown.
Eamon Jones Leinster, took the u21s and David Farrelly Leinster took the u16s title. Catches were dominated by whiting in the night session while flounder and dabs composed most of the catches during both daylight sessions. The top 5 anglers in each category will now represent Ireland at the home Nations in England during the summer.
