Mick Flanagan reports:
Easter Sunday was a very strange day to be on the waterways and the weather was very changeable. I teamed up with pal Marty Smith from Manchester, and we boated 6 lovely trout and one pike trolling. The air temperature had dropped and we fished in sunshine, rain, winds, and also heard a lot of thunder while out on Lene. After one brutal spill of rain a very low rainbow settled on the Hills of this North Westmeath Lake.

Lene will be busy in the coming weeks, and the first club competition was fished on March 20th . We printed the results last week, and have the winning pic this week. On the day John Ayton was top rod with a trout of 1.92kg, presenting the Lough Lene Cup is Tom Fagan Chairman of Lough Lene Angling Association. On Sunday April 10th the Peadar Caffrey Cup will be fished and this fly only competition kicks off at 11am from Fagan’s Point.
