Sean Carty of of Carty’s Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran reports on the catches during their recent shore league:
Sunday 23rd of October saw the start to the Land and Sea Sports Shore League with the first leg of the competition held on Bundoran’s Tullan strand . Tullan Strand is very well known in the angling world as one of Irelands finest shore marks and throws up many specimen flounder and Seatrout each year . The weather was clear and crisp and a large swell made for difficult conditions with a big run on the beach, This however didn’t deter the 15 anglers that travelled from Donegal , Leitrim , Fermanagh , Mayo and Galway to battle it out on the first leg of the competition.

In total 27 fish were caught over the 180mm minimum, with species including flounder, turbot, coalies, seatrout, weeverfish and plaice. A great deal of undersize fish were also caught on the day.
Winner of the day was Shane Gilvarry who won the first prize of a Trabucco Xandria rod worth €180
In joint second place was Owen Gilvarry and John Cunningham who both won €25
Winner of longest fish of the day was by Joe Doherty with a 35cm flounder, who won €25
The next leg of our shore leage takes place on November 6th on Mullaghmore beach, Co Sligo.
Checkin is at Carty’s Land and Sea Sports, West End, Bundoran from 9.00am
Fishing takes place from 11am to 3pm
