John Burns, a native of Killaloe in County Clare took a trip up river to fish in the Banagher area earlier in the month. Ledgering a dead bait (mackerel) produced 5 pike for John 5 pike. The best of these was a fine double figure fish and the only one over 10bls. The rest were jacks and small hens between 3 and 9lbs. All on dead baits on a cold day when the river was rising from the rain.

Lovely Shannon pike caught and carefully released by John Burns.
