The good run of grilse continued this week (26 June – 02 July) despite the very low water levels and there continued to be an average of some 6 salmon (mainly grilse) caught per day. Given here are some of the catches from the Fishery Catch Register.

On Tuesday, Columba Fitzpatrick recorded 2 grilse weighing 2½ & 3lb caught on worm from Upper Mill Pool.

On Wednesday, Brian Donovan reported a 5lb grilse caught on fly from Scott’s Corner.

On Thursday, Harry Lloyd logged a 3½lb grilse caught on fly from the Sea Pools.

On Friday, Robert Heron registered a 3lb grilse caught on fly from the Sea Pools.

On Saturday, Jose Maguiera accounted for 2 grilse both weighing 3lb caught on prawn & fly from Black Hole.

The forecast for the coming week is for some unsettled weather and hopefully this equates to a much needed rise in water levels.
