South Shore Sea Angling Club held the most recent leg of their League at Newcastle at the weekend. Paul Mason reports…
02 October: Weed was a problem on Newcastle yesterday during our competition. But careful planning by Thomas Keogh picking a slack tide assured it was manageable.

In a conversation I had with Ruairi in Swords angling on Saturday he told me he never won a South Shore competition. Well that duck has well and truly been put to bed. Well done Ruairi – a great result with 17 fish the bulk being dogs.

The anglers on the lower pegs were into fish from the off with Dogs and dabs making the bulk of the catch.
Eamonn Bermingham on peg 1 had 19 fish mostly dabs with three dogs in the bag .

We were having great fun on the other end with double and treble pesky crabs every cast .
