IFSA’s Munster Provincial Council ran the first of their summer boat leagues in Crosshaven recently. They had 16 young anglers fishing on the evening, some experienced and some newcomers.

The boats were kindly provided by Pat Condon (Osprey II ) and Alan Kennedy ( Lagosta ), help and assistance was given by Graham Walsh, Dave Jolly, Dermot O’Brien, Sean og McShane, Tim O’Herlihy, Derek McGreevy, and Jamie Murphy, clubs represented on the night were Crosshaven, Cork Harbour, Carrigaline, and Ballycotton. Our bait for the league was kindly sponsored by Screaming Reels bait suppliers for which we are most grateful.

One of over 100 dogfish caught and released

The kids had a great time and plenty of fish were captured and returned on the night:109 Dogfish, 7 Whiting, 12 Dabs, 3 Bullhuss and 4 Cod. Our next event will be on Friday 16th June and we hope to continue to encourage and develop boat angling in Cork Harbour and surrounding areas.
