North Kildare Trout and Salmon Anglers Association chairman Nicky Moore braved the cold conditions that marked the opening day for trout angling on the River Liffey.  Against a snowscape that looked positively polar Nicky was rewarded with a fine Liffey Trout of over a pound. The fish took a nymph but the news from the river yesterday was that there was a hatch of Dark Olives in the early afternoon, and the trout responded well with a bit of a rise. Secretary John Higgins said he wouldn’t have believed it if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes!
