Following a successful tender bid, Shay O’Donnell of the newly formed Lough Bracken & District Anglers met with Josie Mahon, Inspector, IFI to discuss this new project on 27/4/18.
For those unfamiliar with this water it is located just outside Drumconrath village and holds good stocks of coarse fish and pike. Lough Bracken & District Anglers is the latest such initiative in the North East in which anglers have formed a group with a view to managing a particular fishery.
“The goal of our group is to develop and protect this fishery for everyone to enjoy”. Because there are established state fishing rights attached to this water it will assist us in our efforts to manage the lake. We will be working closely in this regard with neighboring clubs such as Meath Hill and Mentrim and of course I.F.I.” said Shay.
For 2018, a nominal fee of 10 euro will be charged for membership (5 euro OAP and juniors), day permits will also be available from Drumconrath Post Office.
Signage outlining the, by now standard, fishery rules will be in place within the next two weeks. We would like to invite all prospective club members to contact Kieran Dowling at 086 2231774.
