John Chambers of IFPAC reports on O’Casey’s Pike Angling Club first league competiton of 2018…

28 January: O’ Casey’s held the first heat of their 2018 league today on a lake in Co. Cavan. Fishing was extremely hard with only ten fish caught. Although there was a low double 11lb 5oz caught by Mark Callaghan.

Results were as follows:

  • 1st Mark Callaghan 11Ib 5oz (1 fish)
  • 2nd Brendan O’ Reilly 8Ib (2 fish)
  • 3rd Paul Reynolds 6Ib 7oz (1 fish)
  • 4th Fergal Bell 6Ib (1fish)
  • 5th Ronan Garrett 5Ib 7oz (2 fish)
  • 6th Cillian Garrett 4Ib 4oz (2 fish)
  • 7th Eddie Mc Guirk 4Ib 1oz (1 fish)

Heaviest fish: Caught by Mark Callaghan 11lb 5oz

QUALIFIER DEFERRED

In other news the 2017/18 GO HIRE National Pike Championships Qualifier which was scheduled to be held next Sunday 4th February in the Belturbet area has been deferred on health and safety grounds due to the very high water levels.

Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs

The Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs (IFPAC) is a body representing pike anglers in Ireland, North and South.The IFPAC was founded on 17th January 1988 at a meeting held at the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan. The membership for that year stood at fifteen clubs representing six hundred anglers, today membership of IFPAC is approaching 100 affiliated clubs representing in excess of seven thousand anglers from all walks of life.
