Carrowmore Lake opened on January first but the first bit of fishing was not attempted until 21 February. There were 2 boats on but both blanked.
Following that early effort the winds got up and the anglers had to sit tight and wait for the weather to improve so they could start their season on Carramore lake in earnest.
Unfortunately this was followed by the Big Snow. Once the thaw hit it, though, was clear that a fish was likely in the near future.

And so it was that 1st. salmon of the 2018 season on the lake was caught yesterday by Gerry Carolan. The fish was a bar of silver weighing 8 lbs.
Go fishing…
Please note that Carrowmore Lake is a Brown Tag Fishery this year.
