17/1/18 The Waterville Salmon Stations opened this day with four boats manipulating the shorelines and the great Salmon lines of Lough Currane, but alas my Noble anglers didn’t contact a Wild Atlantic Salmon this opening day, the only bit of action was in the Kelt department. Wind NW fresh with heavy showers and overcast all day. On a personal note I would like to wish all Game anglers a great 2018 Salmon and Sea Trout Season and as Dave Alen would not say, may all your fish be with you.
18/1/18 The second day into the Season and it was all quiet on the SW front. Wind WNW fresh with good cloud cover with showers. Amount of rainfall yesterday was 11.4 the total amount for January so far is 150.4 mm.
19/1/18 Lough Currane was all quiet on the SW front and very cold and one could see snow on the hill, not a lot mind. Wind WNW fresh and overcast with showers. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 4.4mm. Maximum air temperature 8.9 c. felt like 6c.
20/1/18 Into the fourth day and my Noble Anglers blood pressure is rising with anticipation for who is going to take the Lough Currane Green Jacket for the first Salmon caught this 2018 Season. To all you Salmon and Sea Trout Magazine readers, in February’s issue, there is a 3 page great article on Lough Derriana by Mr. Chris McCully and well worth reading as I’m sure you will agree! Wind WNW fresh and overcast. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 10.6 mm. Maximum air temperature 7.8c.
21/1/18 Lough Currane was on the quiet side in all departments, be it rod or reel. Wind WNW light and variable and overcast. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 4.0 mm. Maximum air temperature 11.4 c.
22/1/18 I’m starting today’s No Spin No Fly’s Just Facts zone on a personal note. Today is the 5th anniversary of my Father’s parting and all I can say is Dad RIP, you may be gone but your certainly not forgotten. There are many fantastic memories, but one comes to mind and one I will never forget and that was the day we caught two Salmon on the troll, both at the same time and fair play to my Father he played both Salmon and to top it all we caught both in a mighty thunder storm with fork lighting and Thank God the fish were the only ones to be electrocuted.

23/1/18 Still waiting for that text that says GOT HIM Wind SW fresh and overcast and staying with the weather https://www.met.ie have a status Orange weather alert in effect and their forecast is as fellows, Turning very windy tonight as storm Georgina tracks to the northwest of the country. Southwest winds will be strong to very strong and gusty, with gale force winds for a time overnight with strong gales along coasts. Rain will become widespread and heavy for a time during the night and there will be some further patches of mist. High seas along the Atlantic coasts with a risk of coastal flooding here. There is a risk of thunder and spot flooding also but rain will turn more showery later. Lowest temperatures 4 to 7 degrees.Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 4.2 mm.
