Its certainly very exciting times for this Westmeath Angling club, and a lot of development work is penciled in for the coming season. FINIAN DARBY MEMORIAL CUP
More breaking news on the angling scene as we set our sights on the 2nd Memorial Cup pike competition for Mullingar angler Finian Darby. Finian was part and parcel of the angling here in Mullingar and was well known across Ireland on the Pike angling scene as himself and son Barry were a force to be reckoned with at major pike angling events. I was chatting to Barry this week, and there is a huge interest in this year’s event, which once again takes place on Derravaragh. Barry also told me all pike will be measures photographed and release during this competition. I will have more on the Finian Darby Memorial Cup in the coming weeks. It’s penciled in for Sunday February 4th, with fishing 11am-5pm.
