Fishery manager Brian Curran reports that sea trout angling on the main lough of the Costello system, Glenicmurrin has been good for the number of rods, despite high water and strong winds at time.
Liam Glynn’s party of 3 had 12 sea trout as well as numerous small brown trout. Billy Guilfoyle landed a salmon of almost 5lbs on Beat 2 on the river, while Jim Dix had 9 sea trout on Thursday when fishing with angling guide Sean Bolistrim.
With the higher water levels which are expected to continue given the broken weather, we are seeing fresh run larger sea trout which may have delayed their return due to the low water levels in the summer.
