22/2/18 Lough Currane was all quiet in all departments this day, so one can say that todays notes are short and sweet but that didn’t stop the old Robin Red Breast looking for a portion for something to eat this cold day with the wind coming from the SE and overcast with the odd light shower. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 9.5c.
23/2/18 It was a wild day with a fresh to strong and gusty SE wind out there on Lough Currane and if any boats ventured out all they caught was a wind tan and tangles. Just for the record in the last few days there has a good few Kelts caught. Wind as already stated. Yestterdays weather. Maximum air temperature 9.1c.
24/2/18 Fly Angler Mr. Steven O’Neil of Cork takes all the angling news today and for good reason, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGilliddy of www.fishingwithdom.com caught his first ever 10lbs. Salmon on the fly, not alone was it Steven’s first Salmon it was his first time ever fly fishing and in the words of his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, 5 minute lesson in the art of fly fishing and the rest is history. Wind SSE fresh and overcast and cold. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 0.6mm. Maximum air temperature 9.1
25/2/18 Lough Currane was All quiet on the SW front in all departments and with a massive cold wind coming from the East or as they are calling it the beast from the East, so you can say My Noble Anglers were frozen out toady in their manipulations. Sadly it couldn’t be said for the Kerry Fire Service who I might add were doing a Fantastic job on putting out Gorse Fires and protecting the good people of the ring Kerry today, So Anglers take note when dining on the Lake. Wind ESE fresh with good cloud cover.
26/2/18 Ireland is ready and waiting for the Beast from the East, well I have News for you, because Lough Currane produced its own Beast from the East with a Beast of a 17lbs. Salmon caught by Mr. Michael Roden on the troll while fishing with Snr Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and fair play to Mr. Michael Roden, because he and his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea have caught the biggest Salmon in Ireland so far this season, I hope I’m Correct on this statement. Wind ESE then veered East and as you can see by the photo there was plenty of sunshine out there on the Lake.
27/2/18 Lough Currane was all quiet on the SW front and that’s not surprising because there was one hell of a party, celebrating Michael’s 17 lbs. Salmon in the Lobster Bar last night. Wind NE light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover at times and very cold and if one takes the wind chill into the equation it felt like sub zero. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 7.3c.
28/2/18 The Lough Currane anglers were frozen out this day, which isn’t surprising it was sub o out there and felt like minus 3 and worse is to come tomorrow with Kerry on a red alert from 4pm until 12 o’clock Friday, Wind NE fresh with snow showers late this afternoon. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 4.5c.
