Kit Dunne of Wicklow Boat Charters was out on the water at the weekend. Kit and his crew fished some deep-water marks in search of big spurdog. No specimens were landed so the prize for that particular achievement remains to be collected. There were a few decent fish landed though including thornback ray. The best fish went to Des Chew, a good thornback that was released unharmed after a quick photo.
Fishing in the deep meant just 2 species were encountered on the day. Kit reckons that even though its a bit early, there could well be whiting and other fish to be had inshore.
