Stefan Martin from Killybegs Mariners SAC reports on the fishing around Donegal Bay…
23 June: As always the west Donegal beaches facing west into the setting evening sun always provide the tropical settings for the high summer outings. Fishing was quiet mostly small under our 23cm size limit but a nice 32cm flounder for Dessie O Keeney won him longest fish prize and Dessie also won the most points cash prize on the night. 2nd place prize was won by Michael McGettigan. Great angling well done to all who took part.
26 June: Heading out targeting Bull Huss in the barbecue weather. Great fishing and Huss to 8lbs taken from the kelp giving a great scrap to get them landed and released from the shore. Large baits attracted the big fish along with a few thornback rays also. A nice species to add to the species hunt for the year and a few sea angler mission accomplished badges on the way. A great day out, happy men.
