Declan Gibbons reports that the end to the hot weather, and more changeable conditions, saw an improvement in trout angling on Corrib to mayfly, sedges and crickets.
In the Oughterard area Basil Shields of Ardnasillagh Lodge (091-552550) reports a much better week gone by, with anglers rewarded for their efforts. Barry Gibbons from England had 12 fish for two days on mayfly with the best being 3lbs. Mark Patterson from LOOP Tackle & Northern Ireland had two days fishing on Corrib landing 4 fish with the best fish being 2.75lbs. Friends John Quilligan and David Donnelly had 19 fish for two days between them on wet may fly patterns. Colin Wright from Belfast had 12 fish for three days with the best being 4lbs. Ennis Angler Michael Murphy on Sunday last had 2 fish for his day.
Annaghdown angler Gene Haran enjoyed good action on Sunday last in the Oughterard area landing 3 trout on dry sedges.
In the Cornamona area Richard Molloy of Ballard Shore Boat Hire & self Catering (087-2879339) reports of Limerick angler Aidan Spooner enjoying good action on Friday last landing 2 trout and meeting numerous more trout dapping crickets.
Galway angler Harold O’Toole on Saturday last enjoyed good angling on dry sedges on the lower Corrib landing 5 trout with best fish being 3lbs.
