Des O’Rourke was out on a tributary of the Suir on Sunday morning. It was a beautiful crisp morning with a touch of ground frost and magical mist coming off the surface of the river. Des reports that he did not see any fish rising but had good success fishing a brown bead pheasant tail nymph he tied himself.

One fish in particular stood out from the rest as it gave an incredible fight. Des met his fish in a deep pool and upon being hooked it headed off downstream and took Des into the backing. Once landed Des admired its fantastic red spots. and after a quick photo the trout was safely returned.
