Let’s hope that the rest of 2019 goes as well as our first week of the season this year.

Good water levels for the first day of the season on the Ballisodare saw Sean Gallagher take the our first Salmon, 7lb 8oz, on the fly.
Not to be outdone, John Murray and David Dumican soon followed – both catching 7lb Salmon on the Fly with Michael O Kane also landing a 7lb fish on the worm. Three more similar sized fish were released giving a nice first day haul.

Later through the week the snow and sleet didn’t stop our members with numerous fish caught including Richie Watters’ catch of a beautiful 10lb Salmon, on the worm, followed by Bernard Harte with a 10lb fish on the fly.

Andrew Pearson added to the total for the week with another fly caught 10lb fish.

7 fish were released including Tom Devaney and John Murray who both released a 7lb and 6lb fish.

Go fishing…

The Ballisodare Fishery is situated on the Wild Atlantic Way in the picturesque village of Ballisodare, in the North West corner of Ireland, just a 10 minute drive from Sligo Town. The Ballisodare Fishery is one of the premier locations for Salmon Angling in Ireland.

It’s a great place for both novice and experienced anglers to catch salmon. Many anglers have caught their first salmon at Ballisodare, sometimes after spending many days, even weeks and occasionally years trying to catch one in other fisheries.

Whether you fish with fly, worm, shrimp or prawn, Ballisodare is the place where you will maximise your chances of catching this often elusive species, and there is nothing like having a salmon on the end of your line to get the adrenaline flowing.
